Pinus parviflora 'Ara kawa' (warted)
This cultivar is one of the 'cork bark' white pines. It has 'warty' bark even when young which forms small scales as it ages. It does not form corky ridges as does Nishiki Matsu. With age forms black warts all over the stem and the stems are almost black. It is a moderately growing cultivar with two inch needles with good blue color. It is a fairly compact plant and will make a fine bonsai over about 18 inches tall.
